Ink's Lake Campout and Hike

Here is a reverse order of the campout we had at Ink's Lake State Park:

The map and marked 5 mile route. Thanks Oscar and Wesley for being trail guides along the way! Orienteering and compass use helped each scout know their way around the park.

The scouts enjoying chili dogs after the hike.

Ian and Justin created the first ever "Brisket Chili Dog."

Ian was a great example to the younger boys.
Main lesson learned: Men eat brisket.....even if it is cold.

Grillin' the dogs and chili

Along the way, Justin found a cicada casing.

Jamin Barber, our meal planning expert, making sure Jayden does not pounce on Oscar.

The Young Men and their leaders

Troop 99 and the lake.

Ink's Lake at beginning of the hike.

David really wanted to take his 30 lb pack along the way but in the end decided against it. Oscar is explaining the basics of orienteering.

A happy Jarom watching over the camp fire.

Troop 99 had a succesful map and compass hike. All the boys had a great time and the leaders did a great job planning the whole ordeal. We look forward to our next outing!!

(99 scouts will be a public blog until I get all the email addresses of the boys and their parents. If you would like to be invited to view the blog, please email me at: merrilltylerj@gmail.com )
